Partnerships

I identify the right people, explain what you do, and secure the meeting. If you need me in the room to interpret, I am there too.

  • Identifying the right partner
  • Direct outreach
  • Securing the meeting
  • Supplier sourcing
  • Training your team

In practice

I identify the people worth approaching — a buyer, a professor, a foundation — explain what you do, and secure the meeting. The conversation itself is yours to have; what you agree is between you and them. And if it needs to happen in two languages, I can be in the room interpreting.

The same two ways apply here. I can do the outreach myself, or I can write down how it is done for the people you already have: which organizations are worth approaching and why, what the first message says, who at their end actually decides, and what to do with a yes once you have one. It becomes a working document, and then a session with your team working through your own list rather than an example.

Track record

  • Identified and won meetings with dozens of faculty and researchers at MIT, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC and the University of Chicago for 3 Body Labs
  • Built La Preferred's rescue and local-business partner pipeline: dozens of meetings secured, and partnerships signed with Priceless Pet Rescue (City of Industry), VIDA Rescue and Pet Rescue Solutions
  • Obtained host agreements with US government agencies, universities and companies for visiting delegations
  • Brought six local stores on board to carry a pet brand new to the US market

Questions

What does the partnerships work involve?

Finding the companies worth talking to, getting the first meeting, and being in that meeting with you until there is something to sign.

Can you get a product into retail stores?

That is the work. For a pet brand new to the US market I brought six Los Angeles stores on board, and the follow-up after SuperZoo opened talks with another retailer and a supplier.

Do you work with companies based outside the United States?

Yes. I work in Los Angeles, on the American side of the deal: the introductions, the meetings and the follow-up all happen here, wherever your office is.

How does it usually start?

With the goal, not a list of names: what an agreement would have to look like to be worth signing. The list comes after that.
